How To Get A Six Pack - Tips For Building Better Abs

How would you like to have well defined six pack abs? Most people see having a visually appealing abdominal region quite an accomplishment. While it is certainly not easy to develop such definition, it is often not as tough as some assume. For those of you that intend on learning how to get a six pack , here are some things to consider.

First, it is important to dispel a common myth associated with abdominal development. You can’t get a six pack by doing a lot of ab exercises alone. Now, people may become stunned at such a statement. After all, you need to perform stomach exercises to enhance the shape of the muscles don’t you ? Yes, this is true. But, many assume that sit-ups, crunches, leg raises, etc will reduce fat in the stomach. This is not true. What these exercises do is help strengthen your core and make the muscles bigger. Fat will not disappear from the ab region without having surgery.

You’re probably thinking, what can I do in order to develop six pack abs? First, you need to reduces the percentage of fat in your body. Yes, this means you need to establish a comprehensive exercise and nutrition program. Creating a program like this does not have to be hard it can also be quite enjoyable.

The process of losing fat involves the right mix of nutrition, strength and cardio training. All these elements in the right combination will help increase your metabolism and burn more calories. As a result you will reduce body fat which includes fat around your belly. This will soon allow the abdominal muscles to show. Of course, in order for the abs to show they also need to be developed. This is where the aforementioned abdominal exercises come into play.

You should always workout all of your abdominals when you do an ab workout. All this means is you should do a wide variety of exercises that exercise the upper, middle, side and lower ab muscles. It might seem like a lot of work, but it’s not.

It’s not a requirement to do many reps during an abdominal workout. Just do whatever your comfortable with at first. Beginners can start out with 15-20 reps per exercise to start with and then increase reps as strength increases. But, this does not mean only high reps will deliver results as lower reps work the abs quite fine as well.

Consistency is extremely important when performing an ab workout. Working out 3 - 4 days a week is a good start and, in time, you can increase the number of days per week you workout only if you want. The length of the workouts do not need to be long - 20-30 mins is efficient with 5-7 mins dedicated to working out the abs. Knowing how to get a six pack is one thing, getting started is another.
